As You Like It ~ 12th July – 17th July

One of the most understandable and funny of all the Bard’s comedies, the
play brings to the stage a kaleidoscope of glorious characters: wicked dukes, romantic heroes, lovelorn shepherds, cynical jesters, drunken clergymen, and, of course, the most loveable of heroines, hiding under the disguise of her man’s attire, Rosalind. Where better to create the Forest or Arden, ‘under the greenwood tree’, than at Worthing’s own Highdown? Don’t miss the wrestling and wooing!

The Merry Wives of Windsor ~ 19th July – 24th July

“Show me the fat Knight in love!” ordered Queen Elizabeth, and by george, the Bard does just that!
Aristocratic Sir John Falstaff, short of cash, attempts to seduce the provincial wives of two wealthy merchants. The women however outsmart him, making him hide in a stinking laundry basket, get him thrown into the Thames, and persuade him to believe he is under attack in a haunted forest. Plus – how to teach jealous husbands a lesson! Local school children will play the parts of the mischievous fairies.
