Paula Tollett is a photographer based in Brighton, East Sussex. Having spent her time growing up by the coast in Bexhill, she uses this as a source of inspiration when making her work.
Paula’s practice is informed by the landscape and its relationship with time and memory. Her work begins autobiographically, exploring family narratives, identity and intimacy. Through the use of photography, Paula aims to explore the relationship between place attachment and the landscape.
Drawn on personal feelings that surround home and memory, ‘Dwelling’ is an ongoing photographic project shot entirely in her childhood home. This exhibition is a work in progress, showcasing the development of the project so far.
Paula studied her BA at UCA, Farnham and her MA in Photography at the University of Brighton which was when she began making her current body of work. Some of her work was exhibited at the Brighton Photo Fringe in 2022 at The Collectives Hub at Phoenix Gallery as part of Copy and Paste, a collective that she is part of.
