Jane Austen and the Worthing Connection

An illustrated talk by Susan Belton, chairman of The Worthing Society.

Pizza Express was originally Stanford’s Cottage where Jane Austen stayed with her family in 1805.

The talk will look at the many connections to other local buildings.

What is certain is that Jane Austen later drew on her observations of early Worthing for her final and unfinished novel Sanditon, the story of an up-and-coming seaside resort in Sussex.

A commemorative plaque was erected by The Worthing Society in 2010.

Vegan and Vegetarian buffet options available.
