Three Painters

Three Painters brings together the work of Julie Burnett-Kirk, Ted Poole and Andrew Wallis for an exciting exhibition on landscape painting.

Julie Burnett-Kirk
Julie is passionate about using soft pastels to paint landscapes and to capture her response to what she sees and feels. Many of Julie’s themes are reflective and contemplative with a particular focus on the landscape of Sussex where she lives and places she loves to visit for inspiration such as Dartmoor in Devon. Julie loves the challenge of creating that sense of place and especially the stillness, light and peace to be found in the middle of the woods, near the sea or out on the Downs or the Moors.

Ted Poole
Ted’s inspiration comes from nature, landscapes, big skies, seascapes alongside portraits and buildings. Although Ted began painting as a young boy he has been painting plein-air in Sussex for the last 20 years and particularly enjoys the direct connection with his surroundings. Ted often likes to include figures real or fictitious in his art to create a story. He has a wonderful sense of place and the imagination and paints in acrylics, oils and watercolour.

Andrew Wallis
Having grown up close to the sea and Dartmoor, it is not surprising that Andrew’s passion is to paint boats and wide open spaces, with an occasional architectural scene and portrait thrown in. Andrew is fascinated by watercolour and especially light and reflections. He currently lives on the south coast near Worthing and close to the South Downs. He is a frequent visitor to Devon’s South Hams and Dartmoor, which provide him with much inspiration.
