Nicolette Amos: Rainbow Bloom

Nicolette Amos: Rainbow Bloom
Did you know that a group of jellyfish is called a ‘Bloom’?

This exhibition is called ‘Rainbow Bloom’ because many of Nicolette’s jellyfish paintings come in all the colours of the rainbow.

Nicolette was born in London in 1960 and now lives in Sussex on the south coast of England. She is retired which gives her more time to enjoy art projects, and keep active by going to the gym.

Nicolette is a self-taught artist inspired by her father who was a wonderful watercolour artist. She started drawing about 14 years ago using coloured pencils and watercolours and mainly focusing on wildlife.

In December 2018, she was formally diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and since starting medication, it seems to have boosted her creativity and imagination. She now mainly concentrates on using acrylics on canvas. Her work is based on strong composition and vibrant colours and can be a little quirky. She likes to experiment by trying different styles and techniques, but jellyfish are he favourite subject.

The important thing is that painting acts as therapy, and it reduces stress and anxiety, which is a common symptom of those living with Parkinson’s.

She hopes you enjoy her work.
