John Stenning: Town & Country Landscapes

John Stenning: Town & Country Landscapes
John was encouraged by his mother to paint at a very young age but it wasn’t until he was in his thirties that he took a series of art classes and put more time into his hobby. Since then he has exhibited at the Guild Hall London and the Royal Horticultural Halls Westminster, exhibitions organised by the Society of Amateur Artists.

John enjoys painting scenes that people will recognise, South Bank London and Looking Toward Westminster involved several rainy day trips to London in order to capture the atmosphere.

Beach huts at Lancing surely encourage you to take a stroll by the sea.

Are We There Yet? was painted during lockdown, would we ever reach the end.

The view from the i360 was observed and photograph when the pod became stuck halfway down creating plenty of time for John to absorb the view and form the painting in his mind, a distraction rom his fear of heights! (this painting was shortlisted for the amateur artist of the year in the S.A.A paint magazine.

Venice from Rialto Bridge, a very hot day, the coffee and cakes in the café on the right were amazing.

The View through the Tunnel is part of the remains of the Old Shoreham to Steyning railway viewed here close to Henfield.

John has also included some surprises in this exhibition... we hope you enjoy them.
