Learn the art of paper quilling with artist Stephanie Smart
Stephanie Smart is an artist based in Sussex whose work centres on making life-sized paper garments with historical and social references. She first learnt paper quilling when she was 13. Returning to it as an adult she has adapted the technique to stunning effect, applying it to her working practice both as a means of surface decoration and decorative structure.
Beginners – Come and learn the basics of paper quilling in this introductory class. You will see examples of its application in Stephanie’s own work and then learn how to produce a range of shapes which you will apply to produce a beautiful 2-dimensional design. No previous experience needed.
Improvers – there are a limited number of places on both dates for those who have previously attended a beginner’s class to come back and explore quilling further with Stephanie’s assistance. You will practise new techniques to apply to more ambitious outcomes. If you’re an improver please arrive 10 minutes early.
