Celebrating Independent Craft Beer and Venues in Worthing Worthing Tap Takeover 22-24 April 2022
Worthing Tap Takeover will run over the weekend of the 22,23 and 24 April in the seaside town of Worthing, West Sussex.
The Worthing Tap Takeover will raise a glass to independent craft breweries across a variety of independent pubs, bars and shops in the town. Venues have collaborated with some fantastic independent breweries, both local and national, to celebrate Worthing’s vibrant beer scene.
The Tap Takeover will see each venue showcase a particular brewery with at least four of their taps taken over by one brewery exclusively.
Towns and cities across the country including Hastings and Sheffield have benefitted from an increase in footfall and establishing themselves as go to locations in the growing craft beer scene. And it’s been a long time coming.
Gemma Clegg, co-owner of Worthing’s award winning craft beer shop Beer No Evil said:
“We met with our friends, and fellow indie venue, The Old Bike Store back in February 2020 to discuss how we could set up a town wide craft beer event.”
With over a dozen independent venues and breweries signed up Gemma added
“The enthusiasm across the town and from breweries has been fantastic. We’ve some brilliant venues in Worthing which are all independent and unique. Which, we feel, makes Worthing extra special.”
With each venue collaborating with their own chosen brewery they get to curate their own Tap Takeover to fit in with their unique style. Whether it be cask beer, keg beer, traditional styles like Best Bitters or English IPAs right through to the wacky world of barrel aged stouts and sours.
Laurence Dumbleton, from The Old Bike Store said:
“It’s great to see all the different breweries that we have involved. There really will be something for everyone. Which is what Worthing’s beer scene is all about, and we think it’s time to celebrate that.”
