Worthing offers flat, safe family friendly bike rides and these downloadable cycle routes takes the hassle out of organising an active day out. Remember the prevailing wind generally blows West to East which means depending where you are going one way is usually easier than the other!

Cycle Route 1 – Worthing to Shoreham Fort (2 hours)

This is an interesting and varied 11 mile return cycle ride along the coast. Enjoy the sights of Worthing Promenade, Lancing Beach Green, Wide Water Nature Reserve and Shoreham Beach before reaching Shoreham Fort and the entrance to Shoreham Harbour. Download a pdf of Route 1 here

Cycle Route 2 – Worthing to Bramber Castle (2 to 4 hours)

Breeze up to Bramber! Take the coastal route before crossing through Shoreham Airport and heading north to the historic Norman remains of Bramber Castle. On your return follow a quiet road through the villages of Coombes and Botolphs. Download a pdf of Route 2 here

Cycle Route 3 – Worthing Town Centre Loop

Cycle Route 4 – Worthing Seafront West (1.5 hours)

Starting from Worthing Pier this is a fantastic 7.5 mile cycle ride along the seafront. Enjoy a picturesque loop via the Ilex Way bridleway to Goring before rejoining the coastal route back to Worthing Pier. Lots of places to stop for refreshments! Download a pdf of Route 4 here

Cycle Route 5 – Worthing to Shoreham Town Centre (1.5 to 2.5 hours)

A varied 11.4 mile route that follows the coast towards Shoreham before taking you around the town highlighting the airport, riverside and town centre before crossing the new cycle bridge returning to Worthing along the coast. Download a pdf of Route 5 here

Cycle Route 6 – Worthing to Findon, Cissbury Ring (2 to 3 hours)

This route takes you along quiet roads and cycle paths in residential zones of Worthing, via Findon Valley and up to the South Downs at the base of Cissbury Ring. From the car park it is then a short walk up to Cissbury Ring, the largest hill fort in Sussex with a history dating back over 5,000 years. Download a pdf of Route 6 here

Cycle Route 7 – Worthing Pier to Brighton Pier (3 to 4 hours return)

This varied route follows the coastal National Cycle Route 2 to Brighton. En route see Widewater Nature Reserve and Shoreham Harbour before reaching Hove Lawns and Brighton’s vibrant seafront. If you only want to travel one way then hop on the train with your bike at Brighton or Hove to take you directly back to Worthing. Download a pdf of Route 7 here
